Receiving the L2C Signal with “Namuru” GPS L1 Receiver
L2C is the first modernised GPS signal for civilians, broadcast by the new generation of satellites, designated Block IIR-M. Currently three of these satellites (PRN-17, PRN-31 and PRN-12) have been declared operational by the Air Force Space Command at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. The structure of the L2C signal is designed such that it achieves a number of advantages over the GPS L1 si...
متن کاملPost Detection Integration Strategies for GPS L2C Signal Acquisition
L2C is the second civilian signal introduced on the modernized block of Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. The two PN sequences employed in L2C, named CM and CL, have periods of 20 milliseconds and 1.5 seconds respectively. With longer PN codes, the search space for L2C acquisition becomes huge. In this paper, the Generalized Post Detection Integration (GPDI) technique is introduced to...
متن کاملCross-correlation Performance Comparison of L1 & L2C GPS Codes for Weak Signal Acquisition
The GPS constellation now contains six fully-operational Block IIR-M satellites. Each of these modernized satellites transmits the second GPS civil signal L2C. One of the key objectives of the L2C signal is to offer high cross-correlation protection, allowing weak signal acquisition in the presence of strong GPS signals in environments such as inside buildings and in urban canyons. The L2C sign...
متن کاملAssessment of modernized GPS L5 SNR for ground-based multipath reflectometry applications
Global Positioning System (GPS) signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) measurements can be employed to retrieve environmental variables in multipath reception conditions, whereby direct or line-of-sight transmission is received simultaneously with coherent reflections thereof. Previous GPS SNR multipath studies of soil moisture and snow depth have focused on the legacy GPS L1 and L2 bands. In the present ...
متن کاملFPGA-based GNSS “Search Engine” using Parallel Techniques in the Time-Domain
This paper describes an FPGA-based GNSS “Search Engine” architecture that is capable of acquiring both GPS and Galileo signals. The various GPS and Galileo signals have different frequencies and code structures which requires a design that can incorporate all of these differences. The proposed design consists of a number of multi-tap channels that are independently configurable to be searching ...
